The mission of the New York Metro Area Postal Union, APWU, AFL-CIO is to unite postal workers in the New York metropolitan area for their social and economic advancement and for their mutual protection and welfare.  We accomplish these goals by building a democratic union that promotes, protects and champions the legitimate struggles of postal workers toward achieving economic well-being, human dignity on the job, and our rights as workers and citizens.  We are committed to advance the interest of Postal Workers and the Postal Service and to aid all workers in distress.  We pledge ourselves to the eventual formation of a single union of all postal workers affiliated with the American trade union movement.
